AI Assistant¶
The EasyRefract AI Assistant helps you interpret seismic refraction data. You talk to it in plain language — as you would to a colleague — and it reasons about the open project (picking, travel-time curves, velocity model) to answer you in the real context of your work.
Open it from the AI Assistant button in the program bar.
What you can ask¶
You can turn to the assistant in five ways.
Understanding the result¶
- "Is this interpretation reliable?"
- "Why does the 2nd layer have such a high velocity?"
- "What does this velocity map mean?"
- "How deep did I actually investigate?"
- "Is the picking done well?"
- "How many layers does the central shot see?"
- "Why am I in the Reciprocal (or G.R.M.) method?"
- "What does the time-depth function show?"
Method limits¶
- "Are there hidden layers?"
- "Is the thickness of the first layer resolvable?"
- "Do the velocities increase with depth?"
- "Is the solution unique, or are there other compatible ones?"
- "Is reciprocity satisfied?"
Correcting the interpretation¶
- "The 2nd refractor segment has few points, fix it"
- "Move the knee of shot 3"
- "Add (or remove) a knee on shot 2"
- "Exclude shot 3, the picking is unreliable"
- "Re-include shot 3"
- "Try XY = 10" / "what is the best XY?"
- "Analyse S waves instead of P waves"
- "Recompute the processing"
Showing a tab¶
- "Show me the travel-time curves / the velocity map"
- "Take me to the velocity function / time-depth"
- "Show me the morphology of the refractors"
Help and guidance¶
- "How do you run a refraction spread?"
- "What should I check before closing the processing?"
- "Explain the G.R.M. method / the intercept times"
You decide the changes¶
The assistant proposes, it does not apply
Changes to the interpretation are never applied on their own. The assistant proposes them with the reason: it is you who confirm or discard them. Nothing changes in the project without your consent.
Check interpretation¶
Next to the chat you will find the Check interpretation command: it runs a set of deterministic checks on picking and model (consistency of first arrivals, number of layers justified by the travel-time curves, enough points for each refractor…) and lists what does not add up. It works even without a connection to the AI service, because it does not use the language model.
Configuration and credits¶
The conversational assistant relies on a GeoStru online service. If you see the message "Service not configured on this workstation", the service endpoint is not set on that computer: it is normally configured by the product installation. The Check interpretation command remains available offline.
Using the conversational assistant consumes the AI credits associated with your GeoStru licence.
